At Community Initiatives Agenda, we focus on Early Childhood Development (ECD) in a holistic, intentional way. One that prioritizes the needs of children, caregivers, and parents alike. By embracing the nurturing care framework, we aim to support families at the very start of their journey, creating a strong foundation for lifelong success.
A Comprehensive Approach to Early Childhood Development
Community Initiatives Agenda (CIA) began with a mission to uplift children and families in Kajiado County through education and health. Our early work with public primary schools introduced programs that focused on academic success and early childhood development. While impactful, these programs primarily reached school-aged children, limiting our ability to support them during the most critical years of growth: the early years.
While our initial programs touched on early childhood development, they focused on children already in school, limiting our reach to the foundational years when support from caregivers and parents is essential. With this new chapter, we’re building a complete ecosystem of care that starts at birth and includes every child, parent, and caregiver in the community.
This shift will give rise to our Childcare Center and Training Academy, where children will receive high-quality care, and caregivers and parents will gain the knowledge they need to provide a nurturing home environment. The academy will also offer fee-based programs for families who can pay, with the proceeds directly funding our charitable initiatives. Our goal is to establish this center as a model of excellence in early childhood care in Kenya, an inspiring space where we can fully realize the potential of each child.
Through these initiatives, we are creating an environment that doesn’t just support children but also builds a community of knowledgeable, compassionate caregivers who can nurture young lives from the very beginning.
We support children under the age of four and their caregivers, particularly young mothers, by addressing gaps that hinder early childhood development and well-being.
